Draft Community Infrastructure Plan open for public comment

Community members are being asked to provide feedback on a draft document that outlines the infrastructure requirements for the City over the next 10 years.

The purpose of the Community Infrastructure Plan 2025-2035 is to identify and prioritise future community infrastructure required within the City of Karratha over the next decade.

To help shape the draft plan, a series of engagement activities were conducted from November to December 2024 with 270 people taking part.

These activities included a community survey, in-person focus groups and one-on-one stakeholder meetings.

From these meetings a range of community infrastructure needs have been identified including the development of a Visitor Information Centre and Museum in Dampier, a community arts and cultural centre in Karratha and a Youth Recreation Precinct at Point Samson.

City of Karratha Mayor Daniel Scott said it was important for the community to take part and ensure the draft represents their needs.

“The Draft CIP 2025-2035 is now complete. This is your opportunity to review the draft plan and provide feedback on the identified directions,” Cr Scott said.

“There’s been a lot of work to engage with our community and develop something that truly captures local aspirations and goals. We hope this plan does just that.

“Any feedback we receive will be presented to Council to be included in the final document.”

The public comment period is now open and closes 29 May 2025, for more information visit www.whatwemakeit.karratha.wa.gov.au
